Celebrated geographer, traveller and photographer, Val Vannet returns to the Club once again to give an illustrated talk on Sao Miguel, an Azorean Treasure Island, which she visited recently as a field study tutor. Be prepared to be knocked out by Val’s breathtaking photography and narrative about this little known part of the world.

Stage group stalwart, Graeme Smith, has written, produced and starred in Dundee Pantos for over 50 years and is an authority on local theatre. Come and listen to his stories of the thrills and spills of the Whitehall Theatre over its amazing history.

Find out more about the Hope Cross, currently on display at Discovery Point, from Kim Turford-Mowat, Education and Communities Coordinator at the Dundee Heritage Trust. The Cross is a poignant symbol to Sir Ernest Shackleton, donated by fellow crew members, as a memorial after he perished in 1922.

Ewen Pate, retired Courier Farming Editor and distinguished farmer, will reveal the pioneering venture by a syndicate of Dundee Jute Barons to purchase and develop the highly profitable 130,000 acre Matador Cattle Farm in Texas from 1879 – 1951 and which still prospers to this day.
